The Salvation Army is an international Christian church. As such, spiritual and religious care is central to our mission. The Salvation Army looks to provide spiritual and religious care in all of its social service settings, through our Chaplains. Chaplains are trained to assist individuals to identify, affirm, and use their own spiritual and religious beliefs, human values, and faith to support, sustain, and inform people in times of crisis, need, or recovery. The Salvation Army chaplain will discern a client’s beliefs and values and plan appropriate action to support spiritual growth and life transformation. Our chaplains are well-trained to know and understand their role and field of ministry, and bring the discipline of theology and spiritual care to the community, and to the staff team, in each of our centres.
