Frequently Asked Questions

Please complete the volunteer application to be invited to attend a New Volunteer Orientation! Here you will learn about the history of The Salvation Army, the great programs we offer and the different types of volunteers we have at our organization. We will also review screening requirements and explain the process of how to become a volunteer. Our goal at The Salvation Army is to ensure you feel confident and prepared to start their volunteer journey. New Volunteer Orientations are offered monthly.

Regular volunteers are assigned to individual departments, bring specialized skills which can support the specific program, and volunteer on a consistent basis. Only regular volunteers are allowed to work directly with residents or clients, or in unsupervised settings. A thorough screening process is required for the position they fill. Regular volunteers may also participate in internal training opportunities when available.

The Volunteer Coordinator will communicate with the group coordinators to find a suitable placement for the group. Groups can volunteer at special events, such a Coat Drives or Stampede Breakfasts, serve meals in our kitchen, rake leaves at the West Campus, and more!
