Our West Campus, based in the community of Shaganappi in SW Calgary, has offered many programs in the 100+ years that The Salvation Army has existed there. We are now in the process of serving the community primarily through women’s programming that offers a safe place for women experiencing homelessness throughout the city of Calgary. We currently offer a women’s shelter and aim to grow our programming and housing options in the coming years. Our goal is to see women find hope and strength as we walk alongside them in their journey.
Women’s Emergency Shelter:
If a woman age 18 and over is in need of emergency housing and cannot financially afford paid accommodations, they will have access to our night shelter that is open seven nights a week. The goal is to help take care of their basic needs so that they can eventually move into a paid room or transition into permanent housing in the community while beginning their recovery from trauma, abuse, addiction, grief, loss, and physical and mental illness.
All Women who access the shelter have access to:
- Transportation to and from the shelter
- 2 meals per day
- Free Wi-Fi
- A Common area with a TV
- Hygiene items
- Wellness Check-ins
