The Salvation Army is an international Christian organization that is one of the largest non-governmental direct provider of social services. Community Services (Calgary) is one of the ministry units of The Salvation Army that offers practical assistance for individuals and families plus provides shelter for people experiencing homelessness. We focus on nurturing the capacities, skills and strengths of individuals who are marginalized and overlooked, rather than just meet their  needs.

Programs & Services

During the pandemic, we continue to provide safe accommodations for people who are experiencing homelessness, while adhering to Alberta Health Services protocols; provide basic needs; provide some Adult Education via online classes, such as ESL and cooking; and, provide children’s activities via YouTube.

Residential Services

At the Centre of Hope, our men’s residential program provides safe accommodations for up to 329 men who are experiencing homelessness. We have short-term emergency housing as well as long-term.

Spiritual Care

The Salvation Army is an international Christian church. Our chaplains (pastors) provide spiritual and religious care in all of our social services settings. In Calgary, we have three Salvation Army churches.
